The Mental Health Connection
Do you know there’s a connection between your mental health and your digestion?
Seriously, I’m not making it up. We’ve all heard how people with IBS can be badly affected when stressed or anxious. The condition of our physical bodies can have a direct impact on our mental health.
I believe that constipation can affect our mental health too.
Constipation is uncomfortable. We can get very irritable and cranky if our digestion is sluggish.
It causes headaches too.
In Chinese medicine the connection between the different parts of the body and your emotions is well documented.
- The liver is associated with anger and sadness.
- The spleen is connected to worry and stress.
- The gallbladder to bitterness.
- Small intestine to fear.
- The stomach is linked to dread.
- And of course of large intestine is all about ‘letting go’!!
I wanted to share this with you because there’s a lot in the media now about mental health. I’ve read about how social isolation is beginning to affect mental well being.
So it might be a good idea to reduce any influence a clogged or constipated colon might be having on your moods.
Consider using essential oils.
Essential oils will help you on a physical level but also on an emotional level too.
The whole ‘letting go’ thing must be done on a emotional and mental level as well as the physical.
That’s why sometimes you make resolve the episode of constipation but it will return until you decide to tackle the emotional and mental issues behind it all.
You probably already know most of this, but if you’re like me sometimes you might need someone to remind you!
Plus if you would like to know more about how essential oils can help you on a physical AND an emotional level then do get in touch with me.
